Meta has introduced a new range of AI-powered wearables, including innovative camera-free smart glasses aimed at addressing privacy concerns associated with wearable technology. Priced at $349, these audio-only glasses will be available starting October 13 and represent a departure from Meta’s previous models that featured cameras for capturing photos and videos.
The company emphasized its commitment to privacy in its wearable devices by maintaining features such as a visible recording indicator on models equipped with cameras. Alongside the camera-free glasses, Meta announced new smart glasses with display capabilities, set to sell from $799 and intended for further international market expansion.
In addition to these wearables, Meta unveiled lighter mixed-reality glasses, which incorporate an external battery and memory pack. These are expected to launch in spring 2027 with a starting price of $1,299, demonstrating Meta’s ongoing investment in advanced wearable technology.
Central to Meta’s strategy is the introduction of Muse, an AI-powered personal assistant designed to handle tasks such as booking appointments, making calls, and connecting with services. Muse, along with the AI glasses, forms a crucial part of Meta’s broader consumer AI strategy, highlighting the company’s focus on integrating artificial intelligence into everyday consumer experiences.
