Wrexham secured their first win of the Championship season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Millwall, enhancing their prospects of contending for promotion to the Premier League. The team had started their campaign with draws against Cardiff and Watford, followed by a home defeat to Birmingham, but they bounced back assertively in south London.
The game saw Wrexham take an early lead courtesy of an own goal by Zak Sturge, who turned Issa Kaboré’s deflected cross into the Millwall net during the first half. Kieffer Moore extended the lead shortly after the break with a powerful shot from around 20 yards. Jacques Ekomié then sealed the win with a close-range effort, rounding off a dominant performance.
This result adds to the woes of Millwall, who have now let in eight goals over their last two matches despite starting the season with two clean-sheet victories. The team’s difficulties were exacerbated by injuries to key players, striker Josh Coburn and midfielder Casper De Norre.
In other matches, QPR maintained their strong form by defeating Cardiff 2-1 at Loftus Road. Rumarn Burrell was the star for QPR, scoring both goals, while Perry Ng managed to score for Cardiff. The victory pushed QPR up to 10 points from their first four matches.
