In an effort to attract travelers during the less busy autumn and winter seasons, airlines are slashing fares on routes between the UK and Spain. Several carriers, including Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, Vueling, Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Europa, have introduced promotional prices with one-way tickets starting as low as £14.99 or €16.
Ryanair is offering flights for September and October from £14.99 on routes such as London to Castellon, Barcelona, and Valencia, with November and December fares beginning at around £19.99. EasyJet’s most recent sale features over 780,000 discounted seats, providing up to 20% off on selected routes. Passengers can find fares from £18.99 on journeys like Gatwick to Alicante, Bristol to Malaga, and Luton to Barcelona, while some October flights to Palma are available from £15.99.
Wizz Air is increasing its operations in Spain by establishing new bases in Valencia and Madrid this November and adding routes that will heighten competition with Ryanair. Meanwhile, Spanish carriers are also participating in the price war. Vueling is promoting discounts of up to 20% on 110,000 seats, with international fares starting from €16. Iberia offers domestic flights from €24 and tickets to select European destinations from €29, whereas Air Europa’s anniversary sale provides fares beginning at €25.
The primary goal of these discounts is to stimulate demand following the bustling summer travel period. However, travelers should note that the lowest fares typically cover only a small under-seat bag, with additional costs for seat selection, cabin luggage, and checked bags. Experts suggest that travelers compare airlines on flexible midweek dates, especially in October, November, and January, when fares are generally lower compared to peak holiday times.
